FDA Center for Tobacco Products has an open position for an Interdisciplinary Engineer. Duties include analyzing and determining the adequacy of data and tests submitted by a manufacturer in support of tobacco product applications, developing new approaches to engineering problems, prepare written synopses of reviews of reports/applications with recommendations for revision, acceptance or rejection, provide oral reviews of tobacco product design and offer recommendations for action on applications submitted by industry.

A degree in engineering from a curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is required. A degree in chemical or biomedical engineering is preferred. In addition, candidates must have one year of experience to include assisting with engineering studies that provide scientific evaluation of tobacco products and/or other regulated products that may impact the safety of public health.

A scientist position is available to join the Redirected Cellular Immuno-therapeutics group in Immuno-Oncology at EMD Serono. This group is focused on developing therapeutics that mediate anti-tumor activity by redirecting leukocytes to tumors. The incumbent will require a strong/broad conceptual knowledge of cellular biology and protein therapeutics.  Advanced skills related to the development of in-vitro based cell biology assays, stable cell line generation (e.g. lentiviral transduction) and protein biochemistry are required.  The successful candidate will be proficient in working independently, as part of multidisciplinary project teams and have the capacity to quickly adapt to project priorities.  
The individual will work in a creative team with other scientists on novel technology research in the area of Immuno-Oncology.  In general, the individual will be responsible for a variety of in vitro tasks including cell line production, protein biochemistry and the development/implementation/execution of biological assays to evaluate immune-stimulatory and tumor-inhibitory activities. He/she would report to the Sr. Manager of Business Development and have the opportunity to participate in meetings with Jounce Sr. Management.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
 Gathering secondary data on competitors, clinical trials, therapeutic areas, indications, and disease epidemiology through database and Internet searches, market research, and commercial reports
 Conducting telephone and in-person interviews to gather primary data around areas listed above
 Developing and maintaining rigorous and comprehensive databases to organize and summarize key secondary data. Examples include populating a database summarizing competitor programs and developing a spreadsheet summarizing clinical trials or disease epidemiology.
 Collaborating with the Sr. Manager of Business Development to derive conclusions and recommendations based upon research and analyses. The candidate will be expected to transform what he/she has learned into thoughtful insights, informing Jounce’s strategic decision making.  

 B.S/B.A. or M.S. in biology or a related discipline; Ph.D. is a plus
 Outstanding academic achievement
 Strong secondary research skills; experience with primary physician / KOL research is a plus
 Comfort deriving conclusions from a large set of data
 Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal)
