Clarion Healthcare, LLC, a boutique life sciences consulting firm in downtown Boston, is seeking intellectually curious, highly analytical, team-oriented individuals eager to roll up their sleeves and help pharmaceutical /biotech clients address their most important strategic and organizational challenges. 

As an Associate at Clarion you will gain deep experience in -- and broad exposure to -- the dynamic life sciences industry.   Working with a team of seasoned professionals you will help shape decisions of senior executives.  Recent projects include: 

•   Developing a novel, industry-leading commercialization model for a development stage biotech client preparing to launch its first oncology product;

•   Evaluating and recommending opportunities for a major pharmaceutical client to diversify into a non-Rx product area;

•   Developing a rare disease profile to evaluate a biopharmaceutical client’s potential acquisition of a development-stage asset for disease treatment;

•   Assessing a potential acquisition in the healthcare space for a large-cap private equity firm by providing analysis of the target market, company, and investment potential.

ABOUT THE ASSOCIATE / SENIOR ASSOCIATE OPPORTUNITY

Clarion Associates gain exposure to a broad range of issues facing businesses in the rapidly-changing life sciences industry.  As an Associate / Senior Associate, you will develop and apply a solid set of skills that will help you contribute to our work in key areas and will serve you well throughout your career:
•   Research:  Using primary and secondary sources, you’ll identify information critical to understanding our clients’ business problems.  Whether the information relates to market trends, companies, competitors, or products, you’ll learn to differentiate between essential and extraneous.
•   Analysis:  You’ll dig into data, prioritizing key issues, generating hypotheses and testing your theories.  You’ll bounce ideas around with your teammates, and you’ll keep going until you are confident with your results.
•   Communication:  You’ll clearly and persuasively articulate your analysis, effectively using slides and verbal communication to present your key findings.

Each project is unique, but a case team typically consists of 3-6 Clarion members including a Managing Director and/or Principal, an experienced Consultant and/or Manager, and one or more Associates.  Client interaction occurs at all levels and varies based on the project.  Given the size of the firm, its entrepreneurial culture and relatively horizontal organizational structure, Associates can expect to interact with Managing Directors frequently, benefitting from their seasoned judgment and experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•   BA, MA, or PhD degree, demonstrating significant academic achievement in any discipline
•   Demonstrated quantitative aptitude
•   Solid critical thinking ability
•   Strong communication skills (oral and written)
•   Proven ability to work independently and as part of team
•   Experience with PowerPoint and Excel a plus
While a background in science is not required, a clear and demonstrated interest in the life sciences is essential.
